May 06, 2022...The Department of Science and Innovation Director (DSI), South Africa commended Lesotho through the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology (MCST) for being the first implementer of Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) Report in Africa.

Sharing her remarks virtually with regard to MCST digestion workshop earlier today, Ms. Lindiwe Gama highly praised MCST for this initiative led by Science and Technology department within the Ministry.

She went further to congratulate the Government of Lesotho for approving the assessment, which she said comes at an opportune time when  technology has become the order of the day.

“Above all, the Covid-19 pandemic has also taught the world the need to adopt and adapt to technology so as to develop,  thus thanking United Nations Technology Bank for its financial support.”

Ms. Gama further alluded to the notion of attaining SDG's, saying approval of the assessment is a step forward to achieving the set goals and standards.

The three-day workshop will be followed by a cocktail event this evening which has been sponsored by the Commonwealth. Lesotho is one of the 33 African countries currently being supported by the UN Technology Bank in terms of exploring developmental projects in line with technology.

In conclusion, MCST remains one of the priority areas in line with National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP) ll, whereby the country is looking up to its innovations to create employment and improve Lesotho's economy.
